The children in Year 4 to Year 6 participate in a camp experience as part of the curriculum provided at Mater Dei.
Typically, Year 4 and 5 participate in a two day/three night day camp program, while the senior students travel to Canberra to visit many attractions to support the curriculum including: Old Parliament House, Parliament House, The National Museum and War Memorial. The costs of attending the camp and visiting Canberra are in addition to school fees paid. This is usually a four night/five day program.
Class teachers organise appropriate excursions for their students that will further enhance a topic they are covering. Sometimes parents are invited to help out on these occasions. The role of the parent on excursions is to assist the teachers supervise the students.
